Teen gets death for killing shopkeeper over noodles

SEREMBAN:

A 60-year-old shopkeeper who refused to sell a pack of instant noodles to an 18-year-old youth was killed when the youth returned the next day and stabbed him to death.  High Court judicial commissioner Ahmad Nasfy Yasin sentenced the teenager Tha­morhran Ramarao to death.  He said that claims by the defence that the teenager was drunk at the time of the incident and had not intended to kill the victim Mohammad Jabrullah Abdul Wahab were an afterthought.  The accused, who was a mechanic and an only child, had turned 18 only a month earlier.  Thamorhran was charged together with welder Chandramogan Govindasamy, who was 21 at the time of the incident under Section 302 of the Penal Code read together with section 34 of the same Code.
